Christ Renews His Parish (CRHP)

When you give to them, they gather; when you open your hand, they are well filled.  When you hide your face, they are lost.

When you take away their breath, they perish and return to the dust from which they came.

When you send forth your breath, they are created, and you renew the face of the earth.

Psalm 104: 28-30

What Is Christ Renews His Parish?

Whether it’s long hours at work, getting the kids to soccer practice, or caring for an elderly family member, we all have commitments in our lives that demand our time and attention.  Over time, these distractions can take a toll on our relationship with God and our relationships with others.  All commitments, including our commitment to Christ, need continued renewal if we are to be faithful.  The weekend retreat stresses a clear focus on the Scriptures and the Good News of Jesus Christ.

Christ Renews His Parish (CRHP) is a great opportunity to give yourself a break and refocus on the important things in life as a child of God.  If you’re worried about putting the rest of your life on hold for a weekend, just know that it really is worth it.  After all, as Christ said:  “Everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or children or fields for my sake will receive a hundred times as much and will inherit eternal life.” (Matthew 19:29)

And although we may not be able to convince your boss to give you time off, we are willing to do what we can to help you clear your schedule.  So call the baby-sitter, turn off your cell phone, and come prepared for fellowship, fun, and spiritual renewal.  When you sign up for CRHP, we ask only that you attend the weekend with an open heart.

Who Puts On The Weekend?

A CRHP team consists of a priest and people who have previously attended a CRHP weekend.  As a team, they have prayerfully prepared many weeks in advance to provide this two-day, one overnight live in experience for the new group of attendees.

What Happens On A Weekend?

The weekend is centered around reflections by team members with an emphasis on small group discussions and activities.  You are welcome to share as much or as little as you are comfortable with.  The team is always respectful of your need.  The weekend also provides an opportunity for individual spiritual growth through prayer and personal reflection.  The sacrament of the Holy Eucharist is celebrated on Saturday and Sunday, and anyone who desires to participate in the sacrament of Reconciliation will have the opportunity to do so.

All meals will be provided by the CRHP community.  Regular breaks for snacks and beverages are provided.  If you should have special dietary needs those will be taken care of.  Sleeping accommodations are provided in the parish facilities.  You need only bring a towel, soap, and any other personal items you may need.

Dress is casual and comfortable.  Feel free to bring sweat suits and comfortable footwear.  There is some walking involved, so if your physical condition prohibits this activity, please make the team aware of your concerns.  They will see that you are comfortable.

When Do Weekends Take Place?

There will be one women’s and one men’s weekend each in the fall and spring of the year.  The weekend begins at 8:00 am on Saturday and ends approximately 4:00 p m on Sunday.  For the dates of the  next men's and women's weekends, see the home page of the parish website (, check the parish bulletin, or contact the parish office at 765-742-4440.

Who May Attend The Weekend And How Is One Invited7

The weekend is directed toward all Saint Mary parishioners who are 18 and over.  Catholics who are not registered members of another parish, or non-Catholics who are “searching” may also attend.

If you have a desire to grow spiritually or gain a deeper sense of community within the parish, the Holy Spirit is already extending an invitation to you.  Won't you RSVP?  For more information, please contact the parish office at 765-742-4440.
