'For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh' So they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore, what God has joined together, no human being must separate.
Matthew 19:5b-6
Q: I'm interested in celebrating the Sacrament of Marriage at the Cathedral. What steps do I need to take?
A: The steps vary based on several factors including whether either of the two parties has been married before, the age of the parties, whether at least one of the parties is a St. Mary parishioner, and whether the couple is of mixed religion. ALL couples interested in the Sacrament of Marriage at The Cathedral of St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception should read the Marriage & Wedding Preparation Guide. Regardless of the factors involved, all couples should contact the Director of Religious Education a minimum of 6 months (preferably one year) before the desired wedding date.
Q: What is the policy on the availability of the Cathedral for couples wishing to be married?
A: The Cathedral of St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception is available for weddings to those parishioners who have been registered as active and contributing parishioners (including sons and daughters of parishioners) for at least one year prior to requesting marriage preparation. Non-parishioners may pay a fee for the Church (please see the Marriage & Wedding Preparation Guide for details) provided they make arrangements to invite their own priest to celebrate the Rite of Marriage and provided that at least one of the parties is Catholic.
