Then the righteous will answer him and say, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you drink? When did we see you a stranger and welcome you, or naked and clothe you? When did we see you ill or in prison, and visit you?' And the king will say to them in reply, 'Amen, I say to you, whatever you did for one of these least brothers of mine, you did for me.'
Matthew 25: 37-40
Adopt-A-Spot: Parishioners who enjoy gardening help to maintain the “green spaces” on our parish campus. They trim, weed, pick up trash and water plants as needed.
Bereavement Ministry: This group meets once a month and is open to anyone who has experienced grief from the loss of a loved one, serious illness, job loss or other tragedy.
Ecumenical Committee: This group strives to reach out and share our beliefs with other denominations. They meet monthly in the morning and participate in seminars, programs and ecumenical functions.
Evangelization Team: The Evangelization team searches for new ways in which to share the good news of Jesus with our parish and community at large. They host the Welcome Table on the first and third Sunday each month after all the Masses. Twice a year the team offers Homecoming, an opportunity for inactive Catholics to come together in confidence to voice concerns. Also, once a year the team offers a three-evening series called “Catholic Way of Life.”
Jubilee Christmas: Sponsored by Lafayette Urban Ministry and supported by our parish, this program provides an opportunity for parents in low-income situations to select gifts and clothing for their families for Christmas.
Outreach Committee: The focus of this group is to gather information about service organizations and projects. They identify and coordinate activities to help those in need. Outreach involvement includes LUM (Lafayette Urban Ministry) homeless shelter, the food pantry, Habitat for Humanity and an active Haiti ministry with our sister parish, St. Joseph, in Pendus, Haiti. For information about Haiti activities, please visit www.saintjosephhaiti.freeservers.com.
Parish Nurse Program: The purpose of this prevention-related outreach ministry is to meet the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of our parish. It follows the example of the healing ministry of Jesus Christ by promoting wholeness of body, mind and spirit.
Welcome Committee: New parishioners are welcomed to our parish on the first and third Sunday of the month at the welcome table in the gathering space after all the Masses. Welcome bags, filled with miscellaneous parish information and gifts are provided to new parishioners as well.
