It is a very moving work which depicts the suffering of Mary as she witnesses Christ’s crucifixion.

SCRIP Volunteers Needed!

St. Mary has an immediate need for SCRIP Volunteers each Sunday after Mass and to fill SCRIP orders on Thursdays. To fill orders would take approximately 30 minutes once every third or fourth week. This important program is a huge support to the Lafayette Catholic Schools. Your help would be greatly appreciated. Volunteers can call Jeanne Marks with any questions at 532-3058.

Baptisms will be celebrated on the 2nd & 4th Sundays of the Month at 12:15 PM. To schedule a baptism please call Carolyn Shoaf at the Parish Office, 742-8336).  Classes will alternate each month between St. Mary & St. Lawrence.  Baptism classes are required for parents prior to Baptism.  Next Baptism class:  Tuesday, January 18, 7:00 pm at St. Lawrence.

Support Vocations

A study, commissioned by the Knights of Columbus, revealed that 75% of Catholic young people who had seriously considered religious life felt they were never encouraged to pursue that goal.  Your encouragement may be all that’s needed.

A misconception among some Catholics is that the priest has an ideal job; he works one day each week, Sunday. They forget the other six days a week, where the priest works long and hard behind the scenes—visiting the ill, counseling troubled families, helping bury our loved ones, visiting school classes, etc. Often the job is exhausting and thankless, but always of vital importance.

The loving environment of a family draws forth an individual’s greatest talents and gifts.  We’ve come to realize that creating an atmosphere in which children can hear the Lord’s call is one of the most significant responsibilities resting on our shoulders as parents.  Parents, grandparents – do you encourage your children to develop their talents and gifts?  Do you encourage them to think of Church ministry as a possible life choice?

Interested in supporting vocations?  Contact Barbara at 474-4040.

Advertise Your Business in our Sunday Bulletin!

Your support will benefit St. Mary Parish and the Lafayette Catholic Schools.  Contact Art Blackburn our bulletin representative at the parish office, 742-4440 ext. 228.  Tell them you saw this on the website.
